It goes without saying, when the temperature heats up and the sun comes out, the temptation to head out on your motorbike also soars! But, while riding in a heatwave is great, you need to ensure that you and your motorbike are prepped for the ride ahead.
CHECK YOUR RUBBER
When the temperature rockets, your motorcycle’s tyres can really suffer. The scorching tarmac can cause havoc with your tyre pressures, so it’s vital you make sure they’re set correctly before heading off.
THE SHADE IS YOUR FRIEND
Whilst we might (well some people anyway) like baking in the sun, your motorbike’s plastics, paint and any exposed hoses definitely don’t, so make sure your parking your pride and joy out of the sun where possible.
TAKE A BREAK!
If you’re planning more than just a quick blast around the local roads, make sure you plan in plenty of rest breaks – you’ll need to make sure your drinking more water than you usually would. Oh, and don’t forget to keep applying the sunscreen to any exposed areas of your skin.
YOUR BIKE ALSO NEEDS FLUIDS...
Make sure you check your motorcycle’s fluid levels before hitting the road – it’s a good idea to check your oil, brake and clutch fluids, and if you have one, the coolant level in your radiator.
